Advising and Academic Support Center

Boise State University is committed to providing high quality academic advising to students in all academic programs. Advising and Academic Support Center provides information and support to all undergraduate students and oversees tutorial services and academic advising for undecided students.

Center for Teaching and Learning

The Center for Teaching and Learning was founded in July 2006 with the vision that it be the nucleus of a university culture that values teaching and learning. The Center serves all instructors who care about the learning environment they create for students. It fosters dialogue, scholarship, innovation, and excellence in learner-centered teaching. Instructional Design and Educational Assessment (IDEA Shop) and the Service-Learning Program are units of the CTL The IDEA Shop provides consultations, workshops, and programs that discuss effective strategies for teaching, learning, and assessment.  The Service-Learning Program fosters citizenship and enhances learning through active involvement in academically-based community service.

Foundational Studies Program

The Foundational Studies Program is an integrated learning experience that illustrates Boise State University’s commitment to undergraduate education. The Program’s distinctive features establish the University as a leader in empowering students and enabling them to achieve academic excellence. FSP emphasizes the kinds of inquiry central to higher education, creating opportunities to explore important subjects, ask questions, research, innovate, and solve problems. The Foundational Studies Program offers a shared experience that unifies our diverse student body and expands students’ awareness of themselves and their world.

Institute for STEM and Diversity Initiatives

The Institute for STEM and Diversity Initiatives aims to build a diverse community of students, faculty, and others involved and invested in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The primary goal of the Institute is to promote a culture of active inclusive excellence in STEM at Boise State University. The Institute fosters diversity in STEM through (a) advocating for and nurturing underrepresented student and faculty success inside and beyond the classroom, (b) strengthening avenues of communication and collaboration among University and external partners, and (c) conducting and catalyzing STEM educational research.
