Research is the pursuit of knowledge. Boise State has identified exceptional research as a key component of its vision to be a metropolitan research university of distinction. Student participation in research-related endeavors facilitates engaged learning, critical thinking, and application of knowledge. Undergraduate students in all fields of study have the opportunity to work individually or as part of a team to explore issues of interest to them.
Research promotes connections. Undergraduate research establishes the important student-to-faculty relationships identified as a “high impact” educational practice. Students share the results of their mentored research, scholarly, and creative projects at the annual Undergraduate Research Conference. Industry representatives are invited to attend this showcase of student achievement and exemplary work.
Research matters. Boise State students have conducted a variety of research projects, in areas ranging from cancer prevention to art history, substance abuse to alternative energy, financial planning to choreography. Boise State is committed to providing opportunities for all undergraduate students to engage in valuable research that relates locally, nationally, and around the world.
