Course Management
Academic Calendar: The Academic Calendar is set a year in advance and includes semester deadlines and current final exam schedules.
Accessing Student Data: Find a quick guide to using BroncoWeb to view student data, access class rosters, search for class information, generate your own class schedule, and manage your class permission numbers. For guidelines about student privacy rights, see FERPA and HIPAA links below.
Bookstore and Textbook Ordering: The Boise State Bookstore serves students, faculty, staff, and community as the campus retailer. It is a University department and as such, all proceeds are returned to the University. The bookstore web site provides general bookstore information and includes an online form for faculty adoption of online textbooks.
Curriculum Changes: Find information about making curriculum changes to undergraduate courses and programs, request a Curriculum Action Form, and read the guidelines for formatting proposals.
Grades and Grading: Instructors can access grade rosters for classes they are currently teaching, as well as classes already loaded in BroncoWeb that they are assigned to teach in future semesters. Instructions for submitting grades are found within the grading policy (Policy 4000, Ver. 7/1995).
Library Resources: The faculty page on Albertsons Library web site provides information on

Policies on Teaching: Among the policies described in the University Policy Manual are policies on courses, responsibilities, evaluation, and workload.
Course Technology
Academic Technologies: Academic Technologies provides numerous faculty development workshops, a range of services for materials production, a multi-media lab for faculty use, and a showcase of innovative technology uses. Qualtrics web-based survey software for faculty and student use is also available.
Blackboard Assistance: Get access to Blackboard guides, instructor manual, site request forms, mailing list, site checklist, and more.
Multimedia Lab for Faculty: The New Media Center in the Simplot-Micron building (room 101) allows faculty to design, develop, and produce digital media resources to aid in their teaching. It is equipped with current digital-media technologies for web and multimedia authoring, creating brochures and fliers, editing digital video and audio, and developing digital presentations.
Multimedia Lab for Students: The Zone in the Interactive Learning Center (room 128) allows students to design, develop, and produce digital media projects for academic assignments. Submit an online order to request consulting on student media assignments, authorize your students to use the lab, schedule training, and identify strategies to plan and manage student digital media projects.
Online Testing Center: Proctored Blackboard-based tests are available at the online testing center, located in the Education building on the 4th floor.
Technology-Enhanced Classrooms: Receive a remote tour of classrooms and learn about the technology available in buildings across campus.
Instructor Assistance
Center for Teaching and Learning: The Center serves all instructors, fosters dialogue about superior teaching and learning, and offers workshops for faculty and Tas. Contact Susan Shadle at 426-4610 or email CTL@boisestate.edu.
Distance Education Information: Find information for teaching an online course via the internet, knowledge network, teleweb, or videoconferencing. Faculty administrative guidelines, orientation handbook, and schedule are also available here, as well as special library resources for instructors and students of distance courses.
Office of the Registrar: The Registrar provides information about reservations, faculty-initiated drops, grading, incompletes, and grade changes.
Service Learning: SL courses promote active citizenship and enhanced learning by linking course work to community service. Information about proposing a course for this program is on their site. For information on involving students in community work that connects their coursework to off-campus situations, contact servicelearning@boisestate.edu.
Skillsoft: Over 800 free online courses are offered in the SkillSoft catalog, as well as thousands of online books.
Student Issues
Disabilities: Obtain advice about working with students with disabilities. Topics include training, rights and responsibilities, testing, and a sample syllabus statement.
FERPA Privacy: FERPA provides guidelines to federal laws for communicating student information with students, other staff, parents or outside people.
HIPAA Privacy: HIPAA provides guidelines to federal laws for the terms of disclosure of personal and medical details and individual rights concerning the privacy of health information.
Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities: This office works to create a supportive environment for academic work. It handles issues involving academic honesty, shared values, classroom behaviors, and more. Help students navigate difficult times by pointing them to counseling services through SOS. Registrar Forms: The Registrar’s Office provides numerous course-related forms including academic adjustments, student information update, internship forms, and application for graduation. Faculty-initiated drop form may also be addressed by Forms for Faculty.
